History of our historic building

What was once a humble warehouse in a former life has since transformed into a beloved icon and cornerstone of the Old Port. Preserving the charm of its past, the building retains its original brick walls, exposed support beams, and even repurposed wooden boards from a bygone shoe factory on Spring Street, which now serve as the stair treads. For the past 50 years, it has been our great privilege to call this remarkable space our home.

In an era when the Old Port was not yet the vibrant hub of boutiques and restaurants we know today, Joseph’s was one of the pioneering establishments that helped shape the area's transformation. Not so long ago, opening the back doors would reveal nothing but the tranquil waterfront along Wharf Street.

We take immense pride in being a part of this historic building’s ongoing legacy and are grateful for its enduring role in the fabric of our community.
